Srinagar, Sep 15 (KNO): Amid the deepening crisis on the Srinagar–Jammu national Highway, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday expressed anguish over the plight of protesting fruit growers and orchardists, whose produce remains stranded for days due to traffic mess.
In a post on X, formerly twitter, Mirwaiz slammed the government over apathetic attitude towards plight of fruit growers.
“I am deeply pained by the plight of the protesting fruit growers and orchardists, the backbone of Kashmir’s economy sustaining thousands of families, as fruit-laden trucks rot for days on the highway with no right to passage. The Government’s apathy to their plight, pushing their year’s hard work to ruin, is shameful,” he said, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)
He urged the authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the highway crisis.
“I appeal to the concerned authorities to ensure unhindered passage of trucks on priority, to prevent further losses and the mental agony it is causing to these hardworking people,” he added—(KNO)
